Cost of Goods
WooCommerce Cost of Goods by SkyVerge is a WooCommerce plugin that records what your products cost you and ties that cost to every order. It then turns that data into profit reports, so you can see what you actually earn on each sale, product and category.

What it does
WooCommerce already reports sales and revenue, but it has no built-in place for product costs, which makes real profit hard to see. This plugin adds a cost field to simple products and to each variation. When an order is placed, the cost is saved with the order, so later price changes from your suppliers do not rewrite your past margins. If you already have order history, you can apply your new costs to previous orders and get profit figures right away.
The reporting side breaks profit down by date range, by product and by category, and points out your most and least profitable items. Inventory valuation reports show stock value at retail price or at cost. Reports can be exported to CSV, and cost data can be included in order exports when you use a compatible export suite. Bulk cost entry and a cost column in the product table help larger catalogs keep up. The plugin requires WooCommerce.
Best for
- WooCommerce store owners who want to see real profit
- Shops with variable products and changing supplier costs
- Store managers handling bookkeeping and inventory planning

Compare profit across individual products and categories, and spot your most and least profitable items in the catalog.
After adding costs, update older orders with them so your reports cover existing sales history instead of starting from zero.
View the total value of your stock based on either retail price or cost of goods to help with planning and stock decisions.

Questions about Cost of Goods
Will my past profit numbers change if I update a product's cost?
No. The cost is recorded on each order at the time of sale, so earlier orders keep the cost that applied then. You can also edit line item costs on editable orders if a specific record needs correcting.
Can I get profit data for orders placed before I started using it?
Yes. Once you enter product costs, you can apply them to previous orders. That fills in cost data for your existing sales so the profit reports cover your history right away.
Does it work with variable products?
Yes. You can set a cost on simple products and on each variation of a variable product, and the profit reports use those values when calculating margins.
Can I export the cost and profit data for my accountant?
Profit and cost reports can be exported in CSV format. Cost data can also be included when you export orders using a compatible export suite, which helps with bookkeeping.
