Coupon Restrictions
WooCommerce Coupon Restrictions is a plugin by DevPress that adds extra rules to the coupons in your WooCommerce store. You can decide who is allowed to use a coupon, based on purchase history, user role or location, and set usage limits that make repeat abuse harder.

What it does
Standard WooCommerce coupons give you a few basic limits, but many promotions need more control. A welcome discount should go to first-time buyers only. A wholesale code should work only for wholesale accounts. A regional sale should apply only to shoppers in one state or delivery area. This plugin adds those conditions directly to your coupons, so a discount applies only when the customer and the order match the rules you set.
The plugin works inside the WooCommerce coupon settings, and it requires WooCommerce. You can restrict a coupon to new or existing customers, to specific user roles, or to chosen countries, states, provinces and postal codes, with wildcard matching for wider areas. Usage limits can also be based on email aliases, shipping addresses and IP addresses, which makes it harder for one person to reuse a code under different details. Restriction checks also run on the WooCommerce block-based checkout.
Best for
- WooCommerce stores running welcome offers for first-time buyers
- Shops with wholesale, VIP or member customer roles
- Local or regional stores offering area-specific discounts
Features
Limit a coupon to first-time buyers so welcome offers go to new shoppers instead of customers who have already ordered from your store.
Restrict a coupon to returning customers, which suits loyalty rewards or discounts on new versions of products people already bought.
Make coupons available only to certain user roles, such as wholesale, VIP or member accounts, for segmented offers or membership sites.
Allow a coupon only for specific countries, states or provinces, which helps with localized promotions or differences in shipping costs and currency.
Target particular cities or delivery areas by zip or postal code, with wildcard matching available when you want to cover a broader region.
Set usage limits tied to email aliases, shipping addresses and IP addresses so one shopper cannot easily reuse a coupon with slightly different details.
Coupon restrictions are validated on the WooCommerce block-based checkout as well, so your rules apply on stores that use the newer checkout.

Questions about Coupon Restrictions
Can I create a coupon that only works for first-time customers?
Yes. You can restrict a coupon to new customers, so it applies only to shoppers who have not ordered before. You can also do the opposite and limit a coupon to existing customers for loyalty rewards.
Can I limit a coupon to a specific area?
Yes. Coupons can be limited to chosen countries, states or provinces, and to specific zip or postal codes. Postal code rules support wildcard matching, which helps when you want one rule to cover a larger region.
How does it help stop people from reusing coupons?
Beyond the standard WooCommerce limits, you can set usage limits based on email aliases, shipping addresses and IP addresses. This makes it harder for a single person to claim the same discount repeatedly using different email variations or accounts.
Does it work with the WooCommerce block checkout?
Yes. The plugin validates coupon restrictions on the WooCommerce block-based checkout, so your rules are checked whether your store uses the block checkout or the classic one. WooCommerce is required for the plugin to work.
Is Coupon Restrictions free?
The code of Coupon Restrictions is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Coupon Restrictions is this?
Version 2.4.0, released Jan 26, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Coupon Restrictions?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Coupon Restrictions automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
What does Coupon Restrictions need?
Coupon Restrictions needs WooCommerce installed and active.
