What it does

Selling courses usually means juggling two systems: a store that takes payments and an LMS that controls access. Without a link between them, someone has to enroll each buyer by hand. This add-on closes that gap for sites running LearnDash and Easy Digital Downloads. You pick which courses or groups belong to an EDD product, and the plugin handles enrollment after checkout, including purchases made by customers who were not registered beforehand.

Setup happens on the EDD product itself through a searchable selector, and there is an EDD settings section on the LearnDash advanced settings page. One product can grant a single course or a bundle of several. Variable product options can each map to different courses or groups. Payments run through any gateway that works with Easy Digital Downloads, and the plugin also supports EDD Pro, so it fits into an existing EDD store without changing how checkout works.

Best for

  • Course creators already selling with Easy Digital Downloads
  • LearnDash sites offering course bundles or group access
  • Training businesses selling subscription-based course access

Features

Simple course mapping

Attach LearnDash courses to an Easy Digital Downloads product using a searchable select field, so finding the right course on a large site stays quick.

Course bundles

Map several courses to one EDD product to sell curated bundles, or keep a one-to-one link when you sell courses individually.

Automatic enrollment

Customers are enrolled in their courses or groups as soon as the purchase completes, including buyers who checked out without an existing account.

Group enrollment

Link LearnDash groups to products as well as courses, so a single purchase can place a buyer into a group.

Variable product options

Each variable option on an EDD product can grant its own course or group enrollment, letting you offer different access levels from one product.

Retroactive access tool

Grant course access to past customers based on their existing EDD purchases and subscriptions, which helps when you add mappings after sales have already happened.

Subscription access control

A subscription completed handler and a filter hook let developers remove course access when a subscription ends.

Works with EDD gateways

Accept payments through any gateway that Easy Digital Downloads supports, and run the add-on alongside EDD Pro.

Questions about EDD

Can I sell several courses together as one product?

Yes. You can map multiple LearnDash courses to a single Easy Digital Downloads product to create a bundle. You can also link one product to one course, or connect LearnDash groups to products, depending on how you want to package your content.

What happens if a customer buys without creating an account first?

The plugin handles purchases from unregistered users, so those buyers still receive access to the linked course or group once the purchase is completed. Enrollment happens automatically without any manual steps on your side.

Can I give access to customers who bought before I set up the mappings?

Yes. A retroactive tool grants course and group access based on existing EDD purchases and subscriptions. This is useful if you connect courses to products after you have already made sales.

Which payment gateways can I use?

Any payment gateway that works with Easy Digital Downloads can be used, since checkout stays within EDD. The plugin also supports EDD Pro, so you can keep your current store setup.

Is EDD free?

The code of EDD is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.

Which version of EDD is this?

Version 1.4.0, released Apr 18, 2023. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.

How do I update EDD?

Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of EDD automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
