What it does
Many themes bundle their own copy of layouts, post types and plugin support, which means every theme has to be fixed and extended separately. This plugin takes those shared parts out of the individual themes and keeps them in one place. Themes built on it handle colors and typography, while the framework takes care of site-wide layout, header and footer configuration, and structural styling for WooCommerce stores.
The design is modular, built from reusable components. A single framework update can bring bug fixes, security patches and compatibility changes to every supported theme at once. You get seven built-in custom post types, reusable global sections you can build with the block editor or a page builder, right-to-left language support, and action hooks for developers who want to extend a theme in several locations. Global configuration for full site editing is in preparation.
Best for
- Site owners running a CSSIgniter theme built on the framework
- WooCommerce shops using a CSSIgniter theme
- Developers extending CSSIgniter themes with action hooks
Features
Layout styles are handled site-wide by the framework, while each theme supplies its own color schemes and typography on top of that shared structure.
Built-in post types such as Accommodation, Portfolio, Events and Team let you organize content in ways that match the kind of site you run.
Provides structural styling and integration for WooCommerce, including styling for shop elements like brand shortcodes and brand layered navigation.
Adjust colors, typography, header layouts and blog layouts from the WordPress Customizer to shape the site to your preferences.
Native support for configurable header and footer layouts gives you control over navigation areas across the whole site.
Create content blocks once with the WordPress block editor or your preferred page builder, then reuse them to keep the design consistent.
Right-to-left languages are supported with customizable styles, and numerous action hooks let developers extend theme functionality in multiple locations.
Core features live in one codebase, so fixes and compatibility changes apply across all themes built on the framework through a single update.

Questions about Ignition Framework
Do I need this plugin if my site uses a CSSIgniter theme?
Themes built on this framework rely on it for core functionality such as layouts, custom post types, Customizer options and plugin integrations. The theme itself mainly provides the visual style, like colors and typography, so the framework supplies the rest.
Which custom post types are included?
The framework includes seven built-in custom post types. Examples named by the developer are Accommodation, Portfolio, Events and Team, which help you organize listings, projects, event details and staff profiles on the right kind of site.
Does it work with WooCommerce?
Yes. It provides structural styling and integration for WooCommerce, so shop pages fit the theme design. It also includes basic styling for WooCommerce brand shortcodes and brand layered navigation counts.
Can I build reusable sections with a page builder?
Yes. Global sections can be created and managed with the WordPress block editor or with your preferred page builder. You can then reuse those content blocks across the site to keep layouts consistent.
Is Ignition Framework free?
The code of Ignition Framework is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Ignition Framework is this?
Version 3.5.0, released Sep 16, 2025. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Ignition Framework?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Ignition Framework automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
