What it does
If you look after many WordPress sites that run the Solid Backups plugin, checking and adjusting each site's backup settings one by one takes a lot of logins and clicks. This extension adds Solid Backups controls to your MainWP Dashboard, so you can see and change backup settings for every Child site from a single screen. It requires the MainWP Dashboard, and each Child site needs Solid Backups for the extension to manage.
You can apply one schedule across all sites or set individual ones, and choose full, database-only or files-only backups per site. Saved backup profiles let you reuse a setup on several sites that share similar needs. Backups can be sent to off-site storage, email alerts report on backup status, and restore options range from single files or a database rollback up to full site restoration and migration with the ImportBuddy tool.
Best for
- Agencies managing client sites through a MainWP Dashboard
- Freelancers running Solid Backups on many WordPress sites
- Site managers who migrate sites between hosts or domains
Features
Manage Solid Backups settings for all of your Child sites from the MainWP Dashboard, so you no longer need to log in to each site separately.
Choose a full site backup, a database-only backup or a files-only backup, and match the type to what each site actually needs.
Run backups hourly, daily, weekly or monthly, using one schedule for every site or a custom schedule for individual sites.
Create and save backup profiles, then apply them to multiple Child sites based on client needs and server conditions.
Send backups automatically to remote storage, including Solid Backups Stash, Amazon S3, Google Drive or Dropbox, so copies live away from the server.
Get email notifications about backup status and problems, which helps you spot a failed backup and respond quickly.
Restore specific files or roll back the database on its own when a small fix is all that is needed.
Use the included ImportBuddy tool to restore a complete WordPress site or move it to a new host or domain.

Questions about MainWP Buddy
Do my sites need Solid Backups for this extension to work?
Yes. The extension manages Solid Backups settings on your Child sites from the MainWP Dashboard, so each site you want to control needs Solid Backups. You also need the MainWP Dashboard itself, since this is an extension for it.
Can I use different backup settings for different sites?
Yes. You can set schedules for all sites at once or customize them per site, and choose full, database-only or files-only backups. Saved backup profiles let you apply a particular setup to several Child sites at once.
Where can my backups be stored?
Backups can be transferred automatically to off-site storage. The supported options include Solid Backups Stash, Amazon S3, Google Drive and Dropbox, which keeps copies of your sites away from the hosting server.
Can it help me move a site to a new host?
Yes. The ImportBuddy tool handles full site restoration and can migrate a WordPress site to a new host or domain. For smaller problems, you can restore specific files or roll back just the database.
Is MainWP Buddy free?
The code of MainWP Buddy is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of MainWP Buddy is this?
Version 5.0.1, released May 29, 2024. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update MainWP Buddy?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of MainWP Buddy automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
What does MainWP Buddy need?
MainWP Buddy needs MainWP installed and active.
