What it does

When you look after many WordPress sites, domain renewal dates are easy to lose track of. Each domain sits with its own registrar on its own schedule, and one missed renewal can take a client's site offline. This extension works inside the MainWP Dashboard, so it needs MainWP to run. It pulls domain information for all your connected sites into a single view, which means you no longer have to check each domain by hand or keep a separate spreadsheet of expiry dates.

Once it is set up, the extension runs domain checks on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule and keeps the stored details current. You can see the registrar, WHOIS server, contact info, name servers and domain status for each site. Customizable email notifications arrive ahead of expiry so there is time to renew. For teams with scripted workflows, checks can also be run through WP-CLI and the MainWP REST API, and reports let you share domain status with clients.

Best for

  • Agencies managing many client WordPress sites through MainWP
  • Freelancers responsible for client domain renewals
  • Developers who automate site maintenance with WP-CLI

Questions about MainWP Domain Monitor

Does this work without the MainWP Dashboard?

No. It is an extension for the MainWP Dashboard and works with the sites you have connected there. Domain details and expiry dates for those sites appear inside your existing MainWP setup, alongside the other site management tools you already use.

How will I know when a domain is about to expire?

The extension sends email notifications ahead of a domain's expiration date. The alerts are customizable, so you can decide how you want to be warned. Combined with scheduled checks, this gives you advance notice to renew before a site goes offline.

How often are domains checked?

You choose the schedule. Domain status checks can run automatically on a daily, weekly or monthly interval. If you prefer to trigger checks from your own scripts, you can also run them through WP-CLI or the MainWP REST API.
