What it does

WordPress databases collect clutter over time. Post revisions, auto drafts, trashed posts and spam comments pile up on every site, and cleaning them one site at a time gets tedious when you look after many installs. This extension requires the MainWP Dashboard and works inside it, so you can pick which data types to clear on each Child site and run the cleanup across your network. Database optimization runs from the same screen and helps keep storage use down by cutting unneeded bloat.

Scheduling handles the repeat work. You can set up maintenance schedules, pause and resume them, and use bulk actions to delete, pause or resume several schedules together. A schedules table shows how many sites, tags or clients each schedule targets, along with status tracking and per-site failure records so you can see what ran and what needs attention. The extension also watches for 404 errors and sends email alerts when visitors hit broken links.

Best for

  • Agencies maintaining many client WordPress sites
  • Developers already running the MainWP Dashboard
  • Site owners managing several WordPress installs centrally

Questions about MainWP Maintenance

Does this work without the MainWP Dashboard?

No. MainWP Maintenance is an extension for the MainWP Dashboard and needs it in place. All cleanup, optimization and scheduling tasks are managed from that central dashboard and applied to your connected Child sites.

What kind of data can it clean out of my databases?

It can remove post revisions, auto drafts, trashed posts and spam comments. You choose which of these data types to target on each Child site, so you can run a light cleanup on one site and a fuller one on another.

Can I stop a maintenance schedule for a while without deleting it?

Yes. Schedules can be paused and resumed whenever you like. Bulk actions also let you pause, resume or delete several schedules at once, and status tracking shows each schedule's activity and any failures.

How does the 404 monitoring work?

The extension tracks 404 errors on your sites and sends you an email alert when visitors run into a broken link. That gives you a prompt to fix or redirect the missing page.

Is MainWP Maintenance free?

The code of MainWP Maintenance is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.

Which version of MainWP Maintenance is this?

Version 5.2, released Oct 6, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.

How do I update MainWP Maintenance?

Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of MainWP Maintenance automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.

What does MainWP Maintenance need?

MainWP Maintenance needs MainWP installed and active.
