What it does
WooCommerce ships with a fixed set of order statuses, and many stores outgrow them. A shop that builds to order, ships in stages or waits on approvals often needs steps like "in production" or "awaiting pickup" that the defaults do not cover. This plugin lets you add those statuses yourself, give each one an icon and action button, and set which statuses come next so staff can move an order along with a click from the admin.
Custom statuses work inside the existing WooCommerce order screens. They show up in the admin orders list, bulk actions and order action buttons, and orders using them are included in shop reports. You can write a short description for each status that customers see on the View Order page, send new emails when an order reaches a status, and mark statuses as paid or requiring payment. Statuses you already created with other plugins or custom code can be imported.
Best for
- WooCommerce stores with multi-step fulfillment processes
- Shops that make products to order or ship in stages
- Agencies building custom order workflows for client stores
Features
Create new order statuses with their own icons and action buttons, so each step of your fulfillment process has a clear label in the admin.
Add next statuses to both core and custom statuses, giving you contextual action buttons that move an order to the right following step.
Write a plain description for each status that appears on the customer's View Order page, so buyers understand what stage their order is in.
Set up new automated emails that send when an order changes to a core or custom status, keeping customers and administrators informed.
Arrange your order statuses in the admin by dragging them into place, so the list matches the sequence of your workflow.
Custom statuses appear in bulk actions, letting you change the status of many orders at once from the orders list.
Mark a custom status as paid or requiring payment to control things like download links, purchase notes and payment options for those orders.
Import statuses created by other plugins or custom code, and delete custom statuses without affecting the orders that already exist in your store.

Questions about Order Status Manager
Does this plugin need WooCommerce?
Yes. It extends the WooCommerce order system, so WooCommerce must be active. Your custom statuses then appear in the WooCommerce admin orders list, bulk actions, order action buttons and shop reports.
Can I change the default WooCommerce statuses too?
You can modify core statuses by adding next statuses to them, which gives you action buttons for moving orders forward. You can also trigger new automated emails when an order enters a core status, alongside any custom ones you create.
What happens to orders if I delete a custom status?
Deleting a custom status does not affect existing orders. The plugin handles removal safely, so your order records stay intact while you keep your list of statuses tidy.
I already added custom statuses with code. Can I keep them?
Yes. The plugin can import existing custom statuses from other plugins or custom code, so you can bring legacy workflows under one place without losing order data.
Is Order Status Manager free?
The code of Order Status Manager is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Order Status Manager is this?
Version 1.15.9, released Aug 13, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Order Status Manager?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Order Status Manager automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
What does Order Status Manager need?
Order Status Manager needs WooCommerce installed and active.
