What it does
Membership sites usually decide access by username or membership level. That works for most visitors, but sometimes you need to tie access to a location or network, such as an office, a school or a partner organization. You may also want to keep out known bad addresses or bots. This add-on fills that gap by filtering visitors by IP address, so your protected areas, internal resources and member content can be limited to the networks you trust.
It works alongside Restrict Content Pro and extends its existing content restrictions. You add, edit or remove IP addresses and ranges from a management screen, mark trusted addresses to bypass restrictions and block suspicious ones. Both IPv4 and IPv6 formats are supported. Blocked visitors see a message you write yourself, and access logs record IP-based attempts so you can review activity. It also works across WordPress multisite networks for consistent rules on every site.
Best for
- Membership sites already running Restrict Content Pro
- Organizations limiting internal resources to office networks
- Site owners blocking unwanted IP addresses and bots
Features
Allow or restrict access to protected content by entering individual IP addresses or entire IP ranges, keeping unauthorized visitors out of member areas.
Set trusted IP addresses that bypass restrictions, and block suspicious addresses that should never reach your protected pages.
Write rules using either IPv4 or IPv6 address formats, so restrictions cover visitors on both types of network.
Add, edit and remove IP addresses from a dashboard interface whenever your list of trusted or blocked networks changes.
Show blocked visitors a notification you write, so they understand your access policy instead of hitting a blank wall.
Review a log of IP-based access attempts to spot suspicious activity and decide which addresses to block or allow.
Apply IP restrictions across all sites in a WordPress multisite network to keep protection consistent from one site to the next.
