What it does
Many stores sell digital goods such as e-books, guides, software or creative assets, and also run subscription plans. Keeping those two things connected by hand gets messy fast. This plugin lets you mark a downloadable product as included with one or more subscription products, so anyone on that plan can get the files without buying them separately. The downloadable product still has its own listing, so regular customers can buy it on its own if you want.
Setup happens inside the product editor. A dedicated field in the Product Data meta box lets you choose which subscription products a download belongs to. When you replace a file with a newer one, subscribers get access to the updated file. They find everything on the My Account Downloads page they already know from WooCommerce. The plugin requires WooCommerce and works within the standard WooCommerce and Woo Subscriptions workflows, including the payment gateways your store already uses.
Best for
- WooCommerce stores selling e-books or digital guides by subscription
- Software sellers bundling files with recurring plans
- Creators offering digital art or assets to subscribers

Questions about Subscription Downloads
Do I need WooCommerce to use this plugin?
Yes. It is a WooCommerce extension and requires WooCommerce. It is built to work with Woo Subscriptions workflows, linking your downloadable products to the subscription products you sell there.
Can I still sell a downloadable product on its own?
Yes. Each downloadable product keeps its own individual listing. Linking it to a subscription simply means subscribers on that plan get access too, while other customers can still buy it separately.
What happens when I update a file?
Subscribers automatically get access to the latest version of the file after you update it. You do not need to notify them or resend anything, since the new file appears in their account.
Where do subscribers find their files?
Their included downloads appear on the My Account Downloads page in WooCommerce. That gives them one familiar place to access everything that comes with their subscription.
Is Subscription Downloads free?
The code of Subscription Downloads is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Subscription Downloads is this?
Version 1.4.1, released May 29, 2023. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Subscription Downloads?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Subscription Downloads automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
What does Subscription Downloads need?
Subscription Downloads needs WooCommerce installed and active.
