What it does
The default flat rate options in WooCommerce work for simple stores, but they get awkward when heavy items should cost more to send, or when large orders deserve a different price than small ones. This plugin solves that by letting you define rows of rules, each with its own conditions and costs. You can set up tiered pricing by order total, weight bands for bulky goods, or separate charges for specific shipping classes, all within the zones you already use.
It works inside the shipping system that WooCommerce already provides, so your rates appear at checkout alongside other methods. You can add several rate tables to a single zone, pick how each one is calculated (per order, per item, per line or per class) and mix fixed costs, percentages and per weight unit charges. Wildcards help you match many regions at once. It suits local sellers and stores that ship internationally, and it is compatible with High Performance Order Storage.
Best for
- WooCommerce stores selling products of varied weights
- Shops that want tiered shipping based on order total
- Stores shipping to both domestic and international customers
Features
Add and manage several shipping rate tables inside one shipping zone, so different sets of rules can apply to the same region.
Calculate shipping per order, per item, per line or per class, depending on how your products are packed and sold.
Set conditions based on order weight, number of items, item shipping classes or order price to match each row to the right orders.
Combine a fixed cost per row, a cost per item, a percentage fee and a charge per weight unit to build the pricing you need.
Use wildcards when defining regions so a single entry can cover many postcodes or areas within a shipping zone.
Add, duplicate and remove rate rows from the settings screen, which makes it easier to manage long lists of rules.
Rates plug into the built-in WooCommerce shipping zones and checkout, so customers see them with your other shipping methods.
The plugin supports High Performance Order Storage, the WooCommerce order storage system, so it fits stores that have switched to it.

Questions about Table Rate Shipping
Do I need WooCommerce to use this plugin?
Yes. It is an extension for WooCommerce and works inside its shipping zones and checkout. It adds table based rate methods to the zones you set up in WooCommerce rather than running as a separate shipping system.
Can I charge different shipping based on how heavy an order is?
Yes. You can create rows with weight conditions and charge fixed amounts or a cost per weight unit. You can also combine weight rules with item count, order price or shipping class conditions for more specific pricing.
Can I set shipping per item instead of per order?
You can. Each table can calculate rates per order, per item, per line or per class. This lets you charge for every product in the cart, for each order line, or by shipping class, depending on how your store works.
Does it handle shipping to many regions at once?
It supports wildcards for locations within shipping zones, so one entry can match multiple regions. Combined with multiple tables per zone, this helps when you ship across wide areas, locally or internationally.
Is Table Rate Shipping free?
