What it does
Many sites publish videos and have no simple way to recognize the people who actually watch them. This add-on connects video viewing to myCred, the points management system for WordPress. When a logged-in user watches or completes a video, they earn points automatically. You decide how generous to be, setting points per video or by the percentage of a video watched, so a quick glance and a full viewing can be rewarded differently.
Because it builds on the main myCred plugin, the points users earn from videos feed into the same badges, ranks and leaderboards you already use. That makes it a natural fit for e-learning platforms, membership sites and online communities, and it can sit alongside a WooCommerce store or content protection rules. The plugin requires BuddyPress, so it suits sites that already run a BuddyPress community or plan to add one.
Best for
- E-learning sites that want to reward students for watching lessons
- Membership sites using myCred points, badges and ranks
- BuddyPress communities that publish regular video content

Questions about Video Add-on For Vimeo Mycred
Do I need the main myCred plugin for this to work?
Yes. This is an add-on that extends the myCred points management system. It uses myCred's existing points, badges and ranks, so the core myCred plugin needs to be on your site. The add-on also requires BuddyPress.
Can I give more points for watching a whole video?
You can. The reward settings let you set a number of points per video or award points based on the percentage of the video watched, so users who finish a video can earn more than those who stop early.
Can I lock videos until users earn enough points?
Yes, when combined with content protection features. You can restrict access to certain videos until a user reaches a points threshold you choose, which works well for members-only or advanced lessons.
Will users know when they have earned video points?
The add-on can send email notifications about video rewards and earning milestones. Points also appear in myCred leaderboards and rankings, so users can see where they stand compared with others.
