What’s new in WooCommerce Pre-Orders 2.3.8
- FixedImproved handling of pre-order release payments, so a pre-order that has already been paid is not charged again.
- FixedA pre-order that is skipped during the Complete action is now recorded in an order note and reported as skipped on the Manage Pre-Orders screen.
- NewAdd the wc_pre_orders_release_payment_charged action so payment gateways can discard the payment token they stored for an order once its release payment has been taken.
- ImprovedA pre-order with a recorded release payment can no longer be changed to completed, and is no longer returned to active by an order status change. The wc_pre_orders_allow_duplicate_release_payment and wc_pre_orders_auto_update_pre_order_status filters restore the previous behavior.
- NewAdd a GitHub Actions workflow that runs the PHPUnit unit test suite on pull requests.
- NewAdd GitHub Actions workflows to run QIT against WooCommerce pre-releases, manually and on a weekly schedule.
What it does
Launching a new product or waiting on a restock often means turning customers away until inventory arrives. This plugin lets your WooCommerce store accept those orders early, so shoppers can commit to a purchase and you can get a sense of demand before the item ships. It works with both simple and variable products, and it marks these orders with their own pre-order status so they stay separate from the rest of your orders.
Billing is flexible. You can take payment upfront, or store the payment details and charge automatically on release through supported gateways such as Stripe, PayPal Braintree and Authorize.net. You can also add an optional pre-order fee. On the storefront you can change the button text, add product messages and show a countdown timer. When the release date arrives, pre-orders can be released automatically or by hand, and customers get email updates along the way.
Best for
- WooCommerce stores launching new products
- Shops restocking popular items that sell out
- Merchants wanting to measure demand before ordering stock
