What’s new in WooCommerce Subscriptions 9.3.0
- FixedGifting security improvements: A recipient paying a renewal or renewing early through the checkout no longer replaces the purchaser's billing name, email and address on the subscription. The shipping address still updates to what the recipient enters.
- FixedGifting security improvements: On the classic checkout, a recipient now sees their own billing details instead of the purchaser's. Previously, submitting the form unchanged saved the purchaser's contact onto the recipient's own account.
- FixedGifting security improvements: Saving My Account > Account details with the renewals billing contact box ticked no longer writes the recipient's name and email onto subscriptions gifted to them, which sent the purchaser's renewal invoices to the recipient.
- FixedGifting security improvements: A recipient can no longer open or submit the billing address form for a gifted subscription. They can still change its shipping address.
- FixedGifting security improvements: When a downloadable product is removed from a gifted subscription, or the subscription is switched away from it, the recipient's download links now stop working. Previously they kept working.
- FixedEarly renewal security and double-charge protections: Two early renewal requests arriving together for the same subscription, such as a double-click on Pay now or a browser prefetching the link, no longer charge the payment method on file twice for one billing period.
- FixedEarly renewal security and double-charge protections: A Pay now link stops working once its renewal order has been paid or is awaiting payment confirmation, so following it again does not charge again. Links issued before this release also stop working. Opening the subscription from My Account > Subscriptions issues a fresh one.
- FixedEarly renewal security and double-charge protections: An early renewal link that was not issued in the customer's own logged-in session, including the one in a renewal reminder email, now takes them to their subscription to choose whether to renew, instead of emptying their cart and sending them straight to checkout.
What it does
Selling something on a repeating basis with a standard store usually means chasing customers for each new order. This extension turns products into subscriptions that bill on a schedule you set, whether weekly, monthly or annually. Renewals can run automatically through over 25 payment gateways, or customers can pay manually with any WooCommerce-compatible gateway, backed by automated email invoices and receipts. When a payment fails, the plugin tries to rebill it automatically.
It runs inside WooCommerce, so store owners manage subscriptions from the familiar dashboard, editing trial periods, adding fees or taxes and adjusting recurring totals. Customers get their own controls too: they can upgrade, downgrade, suspend or cancel from their account, with proration handling plan changes. Options like synchronized renewal dates, variable subscriptions, subscription coupons and reporting on recurring revenue and subscriber counts make it a fit for memberships, service plans and scheduled product shipments.
Best for
- WooCommerce stores selling memberships or recurring service plans
- Shops shipping subscription boxes on a fixed schedule
- Sellers of digital goods billed weekly, monthly or yearly

Questions about WooCommerce Subscriptions
Does this work without WooCommerce?
No. WooCommerce Subscriptions is an extension for WooCommerce and needs it active on your site. It adds subscription billing to the products, checkout and dashboard that WooCommerce already provides.
What happens if a customer's renewal payment fails?
The plugin automatically attempts to rebill failed subscription payments. Automated emails also keep store owners and subscribers informed about payment processing, cancellations and expirations, so nobody is caught off guard by a lapsed subscription.
Can customers change or cancel their own plans?
Yes. Subscribers can upgrade, downgrade, suspend or cancel from their account. Proration options handle switches between billing cycles, fees or subscription lengths, and store owners can also edit subscriptions from the WooCommerce dashboard.
Can I offer free trials or discounts on subscriptions?
Yes. You can add free trials or sign-up fees to subscription products, and subscription coupons let you discount either the sign-up fee or the recurring payments.
Is WooCommerce Subscriptions free?
The code of WooCommerce Subscriptions is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of WooCommerce Subscriptions is this?
Version 9.3.0, released Oct 6, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update WooCommerce Subscriptions?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of WooCommerce Subscriptions automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
What does WooCommerce Subscriptions need?
WooCommerce Subscriptions needs WooCommerce installed and active.
