What it does
Selling digital goods to EU customers means charging VAT based on where the buyer is located, not where your store is based. Under the VATMOSS (Mini One Stop Shop) system, you also have to keep evidence of each customer's location and file returns. Doing this by hand is slow and easy to get wrong. This extension passes the work to Taxamo, so the correct rate is worked out for each sale and the records are kept for you.
During checkout, cart and checkout details are sent to Taxamo, which returns the VAT adjustment in real time while the customer keeps shopping as normal. Each transaction can record up to six location evidence entries for audit purposes. Collected tax is routed to the right VATMOSS jurisdictions, and you can pull downloadable EU MOSS returns and audit files for bookkeeping. It requires WooCommerce and works with Taxamo API v2.
