What it does
Taking card payments directly on your own site means taking on PCI compliance work, SSL and encryption responsibilities, and the security risk that comes with storing or processing card details. This plugin hands that job to Windcave, a Visa and MasterCard certified gateway developed by DPS. At checkout, customers are redirected off-site to Windcave's encrypted payment portal, complete their payment there, and then return to your store. Because card details are entered on Windcave's side, your store's security liability and PCI scope are reduced.
Setup follows a simple path: you sign up for a Windcave account, enter your API credentials in the plugin settings, and the gateway is ready to process payments. You can set your own success and failure URLs to control where shoppers land after paying or canceling, and you can choose whether the payment method icon appears at checkout. The plugin works with WooCommerce Subscriptions, so stores selling recurring products can bill customers on a schedule through the same gateway.
