What it does

The free GeneratePress theme gives you a lightweight base, but many site owners want more control over headers, footers, archives and menus than the core theme offers. GP Premium fills that gap with a set of modules that run on top of GeneratePress. You get extra settings for colors, typography, spacing and background images, plus layout rules that change how pages look depending on where they appear. Because it builds on GeneratePress, you keep your existing theme and add the pieces you need.

Most of the design work happens in the block editor. The theme builder and Dynamic Block Elements let you create headers, footers, page layouts and templates visually, with dynamic content like post meta, author boxes and post cards. Developers can use the hook system to place custom content or code anywhere in the layout. Starter sites give new projects a head start, and import and export tools move your settings between sites, which helps freelancers and agencies reuse their setups.

Best for

  • Blogs and content sites built on GeneratePress
  • Freelancers and agencies reusing site setups across projects
  • WooCommerce stores wanting more design control

Questions about GP Premium

Do I need the GeneratePress theme to use this?

Yes. GP Premium is an add-on that runs on top of the GeneratePress theme. It adds modules and extra controls to GeneratePress and does not replace it, so GeneratePress needs to be installed as your active theme.

Can I build custom headers and footers without coding?

Yes. The block-based theme builder lets you design headers, footers, page layouts and templates visually in the WordPress block editor. Developers who want deeper changes can also use the hook system to add custom content or code.

Does it help with blog archive pages?

It does. You can set up masonry grid layouts and infinite scrolling for archives, and Dynamic Block Elements let you design custom post cards and show post meta or author boxes where you want them.

Is there anything specific for online stores?

GP Premium includes WooCommerce integration with extra layout and styling options for your shop pages, so your store can follow the same design choices as the rest of your site.

Is GP Premium free?

The code of GP Premium is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.

Which version of GP Premium is this?

Version 2.5.6, released Jun 1, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.

How do I update GP Premium?

Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of GP Premium automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.

What does GP Premium need?

GP Premium needs GeneratePress installed and active.
