What it does
Selling files online means more than taking a payment. You need a way to deliver the file, keep the link from being shared and decide how long a buyer can use it. This add-on handles that inside GetPaid, so your items can carry downloadable files of any type. Once payment goes through, buyers can reach their files from the payment confirmation page, from their invoices or from a dedicated My Downloads area, which gives them a clear place to come back to later.
You also get control over how files are shared. Each download can have an expiry date and a maximum number of downloads, and file URLs can be hidden using methods like X-Accel-Redirect and X-Sendfile to discourage hotlinking. Downloads can be limited to logged-in customers who bought the product, and there is also an option to allow downloading without logging in. Files can live on your server or on third-party cloud storage through external links, and a shortcode lists every purchased download for the customer.
