What’s new in WPML GraphQL 5.0.0
What it does
Sites that run WPML and also serve content through WPGraphQL face a gap: the GraphQL API has no built-in idea of languages or translations. That makes it hard to build a headless front end or an app that shows each visitor the right language version of a page. This plugin fills that gap by exposing WPML's multilingual data through the WPGraphQL schema, so translated content becomes something you can ask for directly in a query.
Once it is in place, you can request content in a specific language, switch languages within your queries and fetch a post's translations in the same request instead of making extra calls. It works alongside WPML's translation management system, translation editor and language switcher, and it covers custom post types and taxonomies as well as standard posts and pages. It suits developers building custom multilingual front ends or applications on top of WordPress.
Best for
- Headless WordPress sites built with WPML and WPGraphQL
- Developers building multilingual apps on a WordPress backend
- Agencies running translated sites with custom post types
Features
Adds language awareness to the WPGraphQL API so you can query and manage content across all the languages configured in WPML.
Fetch content in different languages by specifying the language in your GraphQL queries, which gives front ends flexible control over what each visitor sees.
Retrieve a post's translations directly inside a GraphQL query, without sending separate requests for each language version.
Operates alongside WPML's translation management system, translation editor and language switcher, so your existing translation workflow stays the same.
Multilingual querying extends past standard posts and pages to custom post types and taxonomies, covering more of your site's content.
Lets developers build custom multilingual applications and headless front ends on WordPress without writing their own workarounds for language data.

Questions about WPML GraphQL
Does this plugin work without WPGraphQL?
No. WPML GraphQL is an extension for the WPGraphQL plugin and also relies on WPML for translations. It brings WPML's multilingual data into the WPGraphQL API, so you need both in place for it to do its job.
Can I get all translations of a post in one query?
Yes. The plugin lets you retrieve translations directly within your GraphQL queries, so you can pull the different language versions of a post without making additional requests for each one.
Will it handle my custom post types and taxonomies?
It supports multilingual custom post types and taxonomies as well as standard posts and pages, so translated content in those structures can also be queried through the GraphQL API.
Do I need to change how I translate content in WPML?
No. It works with WPML's translation management system, translation editor and language switcher, so you keep translating the usual way and the results become available through GraphQL.
Is WPML GraphQL free?
The code of WPML GraphQL is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of WPML GraphQL is this?
Version 5.0.0, released Sep 17, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update WPML GraphQL?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of WPML GraphQL automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
