What’s new in WPML Sticky Links 5.1.0
What it does
By default, WordPress stores internal links as plain URLs. Change a page slug, pick a new parent page or switch your permalink structure, and those links can start returning 404 errors. On a multilingual site with many translated pages, tracking these down by hand takes a lot of time. This addon removes that chore by making internal links sticky, which means each link points to the ID of the page it targets rather than to a specific address.
When a page is displayed, the addon inserts the current permalink for each linked page, so visitors always reach the right place. It covers links in post content, widgets, string translations and shortcodes. You can convert existing links in bulk, spot broken links, and control how links behave across languages. If you ever change your mind, sticky links can be reverted to regular permalinks.
Best for
- Multilingual WordPress sites already running WPML
- Content-heavy sites that often rename or reorganize pages
- Agencies maintaining translated client websites
Features
Internal links are stored against the ID of the target page, so changes to slugs, parent pages or permalink structure no longer break them.
Whenever a linked page's URL changes, the addon outputs the correct, current permalink when the page is shown to visitors.
Sticky links work inside widgets and string translations as well as regular post and page content across your multilingual site.
Scan your existing content and convert regular internal links into sticky links in one batch instead of editing pages one by one.
The addon identifies broken internal links so you can find and fix them without combing through every page manually.
Customize filters to link to pages in other languages on purpose, without the addon adjusting those URLs in ways you did not intend.
Links generated inside shortcodes can be managed and converted, keeping internal links valid in dynamic content too.
A simple option lets you turn sticky links back into standard permalinks if you decide to manage links differently.

Questions about WPML Sticky Links
What happens to my links if I change a page slug?
Because sticky links point to the page ID rather than the URL, the link still finds the right page. When the page is displayed, the addon inserts the current permalink, so visitors land on the correct page instead of a 404 error.
Will it fix the links already on my site?
Yes. You can scan existing content and convert regular internal links to sticky links in bulk. The addon also identifies broken links, which helps you locate and repair problems that already exist.
Can I link to a page in a different language on purpose?
Yes. The addon lets you customize filters so links can point to pages in other languages. This gives you cross-language navigation without the plugin adjusting those URLs automatically.
Do I need WPML for this addon to work?
It is designed as an extension for WPML and works within that multilingual setup, handling links in content, widgets, string translations and shortcodes on WPML-powered sites.
Is WPML Sticky Links free?
The code of WPML Sticky Links is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of WPML Sticky Links is this?
Version 5.1.0, released Oct 1, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update WPML Sticky Links?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of WPML Sticky Links automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
