This plugin handles the problem at checkout instead. When a customer selects a payment gateway, the plugin applies the fee or discount you set for that method to the cart total. Your list prices stay untouched, and only the shoppers using a costlier method see the extra charge, while those choosing a cheaper one can get a reward.
Setup revolves around pricing rules attached to each payment method. Rules can use fixed amounts or percentages, and you can create several per method. You can schedule rules to run during set periods, limit them to specific user roles, and choose whether taxes count in the calculation.
