What it does
Many blog themes pile on sliders, sidebars and decorative extras that pull focus away from the posts themselves. East takes the opposite approach with a clean, distraction-free design where your stories and images sit front and center. The layout is mobile first and fully responsive, so posts read comfortably on phones, tablets and desktops. You can add your own image logo for branding, place widgets across four footer areas, and include contact forms through Contact Form 7 support.
East also suits writers and developers who need more than a default look. It offers full right-to-left support for languages such as Arabic and Hebrew, and it is translation ready for other languages. A child theme is included so your changes can stay separate from the parent theme. Developers get Sass source files, clean and well-commented code, and a Gulp workflow for building modifications. Social sharing is built in, and online documentation covers setup and customization.
Best for
- Personal bloggers who prefer a simple, minimal look
- Writers publishing in Arabic, Hebrew or other RTL languages
- Developers who want Sass source files and a Gulp workflow
