Frontend Submission
MB Frontend Submission is a Meta Box extension by MetaBox that lets visitors submit posts and custom content from the front end of your site. Contributors never need dashboard access, and you decide whether each submission publishes right away, saves as a draft or waits for review.

- ImprovedAdd authorization check in Form::process() to prevent unauthorized post edits
What it does
Many sites rely on outside contributors: guest bloggers, people posting job listings, agents adding property details or members writing reviews. Giving each of them a WordPress account and dashboard access is a lot to manage. This extension moves submission to the front end. You build a form, place it on any page with a shortcode, and visitors fill it in there. No extra coding is needed to embed the form, and submissions arrive organized so you can review, edit or remove them.
Because it runs on top of the Meta Box plugin, forms can mix standard post fields with Meta Box custom fields. That covers title, content with a WYSIWYG editor, excerpt, date and featured image, plus sliders, file uploads, maps and cloneable fields. Taxonomy fields let contributors pick categories and tags. A frontend dashboard lets users manage their own posts, and the plugin checks authorization before accepting edits to existing posts. It suits classifieds, real estate listings, review portals and collaborative content sites.
Best for
- Guest blogging and community content sites
- Classifieds, job boards and real estate listing sites
- Developers building custom user submission forms with Meta Box
Features
Place a submission form on any page or post with a shortcode, so you can put forms wherever contributors expect them without writing extra code.
Collect the title, content through a rich WYSIWYG editor, excerpt, date and time, and a featured image, all from the front-end form.
Add custom fields such as sliders, file uploaders and map fields, and use cloning so contributors can enter repeating sets of data.
Contributors can submit new posts, edit their earlier submissions or delete them from a dedicated dashboard on the front end of the site.
Choose whether submissions publish immediately, save as drafts or go into a review queue so an admin can approve them first.
Use Meta Box taxonomy fields to let contributors assign categories and tags, so submitted content lands in the right place on your site.
The form processing checks authorization before saving changes, which helps prevent users from editing posts they are not allowed to change.

Questions about Frontend Submission
Do I need anything else for this to work?
Yes. It is an extension for Meta Box, so the Meta Box plugin needs to be active on your site. The forms use Meta Box fields, which is how you get custom field types like sliders, maps and file uploads alongside the regular post fields.
Can contributors edit or delete their posts after submitting?
Yes. Users get a frontend dashboard where they can submit new posts, edit their existing submissions or delete them. The plugin checks authorization when processing a form, which helps stop users from editing posts that are not theirs to change.
Will submissions go live automatically?
That is up to you. You can set submissions to publish right away, save as drafts or wait for admin review. Admins can then approve, edit or delete submitted posts from one place.
Can I use this with custom post types and categories?
The plugin supports posts, pages and custom content, and taxonomy fields let contributors choose categories and tags. You can combine those with standard post fields and Meta Box custom fields in the same form.
Is Frontend Submission free?
The code of Frontend Submission is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Frontend Submission is this?
Version 4.6.1, released Sep 17, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Frontend Submission?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Frontend Submission automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
What does Frontend Submission need?
Frontend Submission needs Meta Box installed and active.
