What it does
Meta Box makes it easy to add custom fields, but showing that data on the front end usually means writing PHP templates or editing theme files. This plugin gives you a place inside WordPress to build those templates instead. You can pull in Meta Box custom fields, post fields, user fields, site settings and query fields, including cloneable groups, and insert each one into a template with a single click from the field panel.
Templates are written in separate HTML, CSS and JavaScript editors with syntax highlighting, and you can use the Twig templating engine for conditions, loops and filters. Location rules decide where each view shows up, such as single posts, post archives, category archives or the homepage, and conditions can be combined. You can also choose whether a template replaces the whole page layout or renders only inside the content area. It requires the Meta Box plugin.
Best for
- Sites built on Meta Box custom fields
- Developers who want templates without editing theme files
- Agencies building custom post type layouts for clients
Features
Insert any supported field into a template from a panel with a single click, with output options for cloneable groups and custom user fields.
Display Meta Box custom fields, post fields, user fields, site settings and query fields on the front end of your site.
Write HTML, CSS and JavaScript for each view in its own editor with syntax highlighting, keeping template code organized.
Use Twig syntax to add conditional logic, loops and filters, so templates can change their output based on the data available.
Set where a template appears, such as a single post, post archive, category archive or homepage, using combined conditions.
Choose whether a view renders as the entire page layout or only within the content area, without modifying theme files.
Because you write the markup yourself, templates output clean HTML without the nested div structures that page builders often add.

Questions about MB Views
Do I need Meta Box installed to use this?
Yes. This plugin is an extension for Meta Box and requires the Meta Box plugin. It works with the fields you create there, along with post fields, user fields, site settings and query fields.
Do I have to know PHP to build templates?
No PHP is required. You insert fields from a panel and write layout code in HTML, CSS and JavaScript editors. If you want conditions, loops or filters, you can use Twig syntax inside your templates.
Can a template control the whole page, or only part of it?
Both options are available. Each view can render as the entire page layout or only within the content area, so you can replace a full layout or just the main content while keeping your theme's header and footer.
How do I choose which pages a template appears on?
Location rules let you target single posts, post archives, category archives, the homepage and other WordPress pages. Conditions can be combined, so a view only shows where you want it.
Is MB Views free?
The code of MB Views is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of MB Views is this?
Version 1.15.6, released Sep 14, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update MB Views?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of MB Views automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
What does MB Views need?
MB Views needs Meta Box installed and active.
