What it does
When a site relies on custom fields, the default admin tables only show titles, dates and a few basic details. Checking a field value means opening each post in turn, which gets slow on content-heavy sites. This extension adds those custom field values as columns in the list tables for posts, pages and custom post types, so a Books post type could show its author and publisher right next to each title.
You set up columns as part of your Meta Box field settings. Each column can have its own title and be placed before or after an existing column, or replace one. Columns can be made sortable and searchable, and you can wrap the output in custom HTML. With MB Term Meta, MB User Meta and MB Custom Table, the same approach works for term and user tables and for data stored in custom tables. The columns are styled to match the standard WordPress interface.
Best for
- Developers building custom post types with Meta Box
- Content-heavy sites that track many custom fields
- Agencies setting up clearer admin screens for clients
Features
Display custom field values in the admin list tables for posts, taxonomy terms and users, so metadata is visible without opening individual items.
Give each column its own title and place it before or after an existing column, or replace an existing column entirely.
Turn on sorting and searching for custom field columns so you can order lists by a field value or find items by their field content.
Works with the standard custom field types available in Meta Box, covering a wide range of data formats you might store.
Add your own HTML before and after a column's content to format values or draw attention to specific information.
Filter posts in admin lists by custom taxonomies, which helps narrow down large sets of content quickly.
Compatible with MB Term Meta, MB User Meta and MB Custom Table, extending columns to term and user meta and custom table storage.
Columns are styled automatically to fit the native WordPress admin interface, so the tables keep a consistent look.
