What it does
Card payments are the default for many donation forms, but cards expire, get replaced and cause failed recurring gifts. Card network fees also take a share of every donation. This add-on for the GiveWP donation plugin connects your forms to GoCardless, a payment platform built around Direct Debit. Donors authorize a mandate that pulls funds from their bank account, and because Direct Debit mandates do not expire like cards, regular gifts are less likely to stop because of an outdated card.
The gateway connects GoCardless to GiveWP without asking you to copy API keys, and its settings let you adjust how it behaves for your campaigns. A GoCardless Sandbox mode lets you run test donations before going live. It accepts donations in GBP, EUR and SEK, and works with the GiveWP Recurring Donations add-on for subscription giving. GoCardless is authorized by the Financial Conduct Authority and ISO27001 certified, and payments are covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee.
