Group Memberships
Group Memberships is an add-on plugin by Paid Member Subscriptions that adds group, or umbrella, subscriptions to your membership site. One person buys the subscription, then invites the people who should share access. Billing stays in a single account while each member gets their own login.

What it does
Running a membership site gets messy when a company, school or family wants several people covered under one payment. Without group support, each person needs a separate subscription, and the admin ends up tracking a pile of individual accounts. This add-on solves that by letting a single user, such as a team manager, a parent or a teacher, purchase a membership and share it with the rest of the group. Members log in with their own accounts and never deal with payments themselves.
The buyer becomes the Group Owner. That person handles billing, sends invitations to new members and removes members who should no longer have access. Access for the whole group follows the Group Owner's subscription, so when it expires, every linked membership is suspended at the same time, and renewal happens in one place. The add-on extends the Paid Member Subscriptions plugin, which must be installed, and it suits corporate plans, educational packages, family bundles and club memberships.
Best for
- Membership sites selling corporate or team plans
- Schools and teachers enrolling a whole class
- Clubs and families sharing one paid membership
Features
Single owner billing
One Group Owner pays for the subscription, so you manage one billing account for the group instead of many separate individual subscriptions.
Member invitations
The Group Owner can invite new people into the group, giving them membership access under the shared subscription.
Member removal
The Group Owner can remove existing members at any time, keeping control over who belongs to the group and who can access content.
Linked subscription expiry
When the Group Owner's subscription expires, all associated group memberships are suspended automatically, keeping access for the whole group in sync.
Individual logins for members
Group members receive their own login access to the site without having to handle any payments on their own.
Built for Paid Member Subscriptions
Works as an add-on to the Paid Member Subscriptions plugin, so group plans are managed inside the same WordPress setup you already use.
Questions about Group Memberships
Do I need another plugin for Group Memberships to work?
Yes. This is an add-on for the Paid Member Subscriptions plugin, so that plugin needs to be running on your site. Group Memberships extends it with umbrella subscriptions that one person pays for and shares with others.
Who controls the group and its members?
The person who buys the subscription becomes the Group Owner. They handle the billing, invite new members to join the group and can remove members when needed, so the group's makeup stays under their control.
What happens to group members when the owner's subscription ends?
Access is tied to the Group Owner's subscription. When it expires, all associated group memberships are suspended automatically. Once the owner renews, the group is managed again from that single account.
Do group members have to pay or set up billing?
No. Group members get their own login access to the site, while payment is handled entirely by the Group Owner. This keeps signing up simple for the people being invited.
Is Group Memberships free?
The code of Group Memberships is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Group Memberships is this?
Version 1.1.4, released Mar 2, 2021. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Group Memberships?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Group Memberships automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
What does Group Memberships need?
Group Memberships needs Paid Member Subscriptions installed and active.
