What’s new in MB Settings Page 2.3.0
- NewThis version adds block bindings source for settings page fields.
What it does
Building an options page with the WordPress Settings API means writing a lot of registration functions and callbacks by hand. This extension replaces that work with Meta Box field definitions. You describe the page and its fields, and the plugin handles the admin interface. It requires the Meta Box plugin, and any combination of Meta Box field types can be used, so theme options, plugin settings and site-wide configuration screens can all be built the same way.
Pages can sit in top-level menus or sub-menus, use tabbed or boxed styles and run in one or two columns. You can also output settings as Customizer panels and sections for live preview, or place them in the network admin on multisite installs so values are managed in one place. Extras such as a help button with categorized tabs and a sidebar for notes or links make the pages easier for clients and end users to work with.
Best for
- Theme developers building theme options panels
- Plugin authors who need custom admin settings pages
- Agencies managing shared settings across multisite networks
Features
Build options from any combination of Meta Box field types, defined with the same standard Meta Box syntax you may already use for custom fields.
Choose a tabbed or boxed style for each settings page and set it to a one-column or two-column design to suit the amount of content.
Organize settings into top-level menus and sub-menus so different groups of options stay separated and easy to find in the admin.
Create Customizer panels and sections so users can adjust options with a live preview, alongside or instead of a regular admin settings page.
Place settings in the network admin area of a multisite install so shared values are managed centrally rather than entered on each site.
Add a help button with categorized tabs to a settings page, giving users guidance right next to the options they are editing.
Display a sidebar beside your settings to hold helpful information, links or advertisements for the people using the page.
Settings page fields can act as a block bindings source, letting stored option values connect to blocks in the editor.
