What’s new in Meta Box Geolocation 1.3.7

Version 1.3.7 · Mar 24, 2026 Latest
  • FixedFix not working with conditional logic

What it does

Entering location data by hand is slow and easy to get wrong. A single listing can need a street address, suburb, postcode, state, country and a pair of coordinates, and every typo makes that record less useful. This extension removes most of that typing. Once an address goes into a field, the matching geographic details are fetched and written into the related fields, so editors only have to enter one thing and the rest follows.

The add-on works with the custom fields you already register in Meta Box, which it requires. You set up your location fields as usual, and the plugin connects them to the Google Maps or Open Street Maps geocoding APIs, so there is no local location database to maintain. A binding template system lets you combine several location parts, such as state and country, into one field. It suits directories, store locators, real estate listings, restaurants, event venues and any content tied to a place.

Best for

  • Directory and store locator sites with many addresses
  • Real estate listing sites that need accurate coordinates
  • Developers building location-based Meta Box projects

Features

Auto-fill from an address

When a user enters an address, the related location fields are populated automatically, cutting out repetitive manual entry of each geographic detail.

Google Maps and Open Street Maps

Geocoding data comes from the Google Maps and Open Street Maps APIs, so you choose the source that fits your project.

No local database needed

Location lookups run through the external geocoding services, so you never have to store or maintain your own location database on the site.

Binding templates

Combine multiple location elements, such as state and country, into a single custom field using the binding template system.

Wide range of location fields

Works with fields for address, postal code, suburb, state, country, latitude, longitude and other common location details.

Built on Meta Box fields

Register your location fields in Meta Box as you normally would, with minimal setup and no custom API code to write.

Works with conditional logic

The add-on is designed to run alongside Meta Box conditional logic, so location fields can appear only when they apply.

Questions about Meta Box Geolocation

Do I need Meta Box for this to work?

Yes. This is an extension for the Meta Box plugin and relies on the custom fields you create with it. You register your location fields in Meta Box, and the add-on handles filling them in from an entered address.

Which map services does it use for geocoding?

It uses the Google Maps and Open Street Maps geocoding APIs. Because the data comes from these services, the plugin does not need a local location database on your site.

What location details can it fill in automatically?

From a single address it can populate fields such as postcode, suburb, state, country, latitude and longitude. You can also combine parts, like state and country, into one field with the binding template system.

Will I need to write code to connect the APIs?

No complex API coding is required. You set up your location fields in Meta Box as usual, and the extension connects them to the geocoding service with minimal setup.

Is Meta Box Geolocation free?

The code of Meta Box Geolocation is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.

Which version of Meta Box Geolocation is this?

Version 1.3.7, released Mar 24, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.

How do I update Meta Box Geolocation?

Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Meta Box Geolocation automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.

What does Meta Box Geolocation need?

Meta Box Geolocation needs Meta Box installed and active.
