What it does
Membership sites that serve South African members often need a payment option their audience already knows and trusts. Paid Memberships Pro handles levels, sign-ups and renewals, and this add-on connects that system to PayFast. Members check out using PayFast's payment environment, which is PCI-compliant, so card details are handled on PayFast's side. Depending on what PayFast offers your account, members can pay by credit card, EFT or instant EFT.
Once a payment goes through, PayFast sends an instant payment notification back to your site. The plugin uses that to update the member's level and payment status automatically, so you are not reconciling sign-ups by hand. Recurring billing through PayFast covers subscription renewals, and transactions line up with the reporting tools in Paid Memberships Pro.
