Does this work on its own or do I need WP Adverts?
It is an extension built specifically for the WP Adverts plugin, so you need WP Adverts running on your site. The currency options are added to the WP Adverts admin panel and apply to the classified listings it manages.

Yes. When users submit an ad, they can select their preferred currency from the ones you have set up. This lets sellers in different regions list prices in the money that makes sense for them.
