What it does
Membership and community sites often end up with cluttered menus, where logged-in members still see a Register link and guests see an Edit Profile link that leads nowhere useful. This add-on fixes that by letting you decide who sees each menu item. You can show or hide items for specific user roles, or hide them for logged-in or logged-out visitors, so each person gets navigation that matches where they are on your site.
It works inside the standard WordPress menu system and requires the Profile Builder plugin. You can add Register, Login and Edit Profile forms as menu items and have them open in iFrame popups, so users fill in a form without leaving the page they are on. Login, logout and a dedicated logout button are also available as menu items. It suits any site where users have accounts and need quick access to their profile tools.
Best for
- Membership sites built with Profile Builder
- Online communities with registered user accounts
- Sites that show different menus to different user roles
Features
Embed Register, Login and Edit Profile forms inside iFrame popups so visitors can complete them without navigating away from the current page.
Add login and logout links directly to your custom menus, giving users quick access to their account from any page with that menu.
Place a simple logout menu item so signed-in users can end their session from anywhere on the site in one click.
Show or hide specific menu items depending on each user's role, so members, editors or other groups see only the options meant for them.
Hide chosen menu items for logged-in users or for logged-out users, so guests and members each get a menu that fits their status.
Build menus that match your site's branding and layout, combining profile links with your regular navigation items.
Runs as part of the Profile Builder Pro suite, adding menu controls on top of the forms and profile features you already use.
Questions about Custom Profile Menus
Do I need Profile Builder for this add-on to work?
Yes. Custom Profile Menus is an add-on that requires the Profile Builder plugin. It extends Profile Builder Pro by adding its Register, Login and Edit Profile forms and account links to your WordPress menus.
Can I hide the Register link once someone is logged in?
Yes. Each menu item can be hidden for logged-in users or for logged-out users. That lets you show Register and Login to guests while showing Edit Profile and Logout to members.
Can different user roles see different menu items?
Yes. You can set menu item visibility based on user roles, so a given link appears only for the roles you choose. This is useful when certain areas of your site are meant for specific member groups.
Do the forms open on a separate page?
They don't have to. The add-on can embed the Register, Login and Edit Profile forms inside iFrame popups, so users fill them in while staying on the page they were viewing.
Is Custom Profile Menus free?
The code of Custom Profile Menus is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Custom Profile Menus is this?
Version 1.1.1, released Nov 18, 2020. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Custom Profile Menus?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Custom Profile Menus automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
What does Custom Profile Menus need?
Custom Profile Menus needs Profile Builder installed and active.
