What’s new in EDD Social Login 2.5.6

Version 2.5.6 · Oct 2, 2023 Latest

NewAdded a feature to disable new registration when it's disabled from WordPress settings.

What it does

Selling digital products usually means asking buyers to create an account, and many people would rather skip another username and password. This plugin adds social login buttons to your Easy Digital Downloads store so customers can use an account they already have. Facebook, Twitter and Google are supported, which covers a wide range of user preferences and gives returning buyers a quick way back into their accounts.

The plugin is built specifically for Easy Digital Downloads, so it works inside your existing store setup. Login uses OAuth for authentication, and the buttons can be styled to match your branding. The login buttons and flows are responsive, so they work on phones as well as desktops. It also respects your WordPress settings: if new user registration is turned off in WordPress, the plugin can disable new registration through social login too.

Questions about EDD Social Login

Which social networks can my customers use to log in?

The plugin supports Facebook, Twitter and Google. Customers can use any of these accounts to sign in or register on your Easy Digital Downloads store, which saves them from filling out a registration form.

Does this plugin work without Easy Digital Downloads?

It is designed specifically for Easy Digital Downloads and adds social login options to stores built on that platform. If your site does not run Easy Digital Downloads, this plugin is not the right fit.

Can I make the login buttons match my store's design?

Yes. The login buttons and their styles can be customized so they match your branding and blend in with your existing store design. The buttons are also responsive, so they display properly on mobile devices.

What happens if I have new user registration turned off in WordPress?

The plugin can disable new registration through social login when registration is disabled in your WordPress settings. That way social buttons do not become a back door for creating new accounts you have chosen not to allow.

Is EDD Social Login free?

The code of EDD Social Login is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.

Which version of EDD Social Login is this?

Version 2.5.6, released Oct 2, 2023. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.

How do I update EDD Social Login?

Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of EDD Social Login automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
