What it does
Recipe sites grow fast, and a long archive of posts gets hard to browse. Readers often know what they want, such as a vegetarian dinner under thirty minutes, but category pages and basic search rarely help them find it. This add-on gives FacetWP access to the structured data that WP Recipe Maker and Tasty Recipes already store, including prep time, cook time, total time, servings, estimated cost, courses, cuisines, diets, keywords, author and average rating.
Once the add-on is active, those recipe fields appear as data sources when you create facets in the WordPress admin. You pick a field, choose a facet type such as checkboxes, dropdowns or sliders, and place the filter on your recipe listing. Results update with AJAX as visitors apply or remove filters, so the page does not reload. FacetWP filters can also be used inside page builders like Elementor, Beaver Builder and Bricks, and developers can adjust behavior through hooks and REST API support.
Best for
- Food blogs with large recipe archives
- Sites using WP Recipe Maker or Tasty Recipes
- Developers building filtered recipe directories for clients
Features
Connects FacetWP to recipe data stored by WP Recipe Maker and Tasty Recipes, so you can build filters from the recipe cards you already publish.
Filter recipes by prep time, cook time, total time and number of servings, which suits sliders or range-style facets for quick narrowing.
Turn courses, cuisines, diets and recipe keywords into filter options so visitors can find dishes that match their meal plans or dietary needs.
Let visitors sort through recipes by average rating, recipe author or estimated cost, using the values saved in each recipe card.
Recipe results refresh in place as filters are applied or removed, so visitors can try different combinations without waiting for a new page.
Present each recipe field as checkboxes, dropdowns, sliders, date ranges or other FacetWP facet types, depending on what fits the data.
Use your own recipe taxonomies and metadata fields as filter sources for more specific options than the default recipe fields provide.
Developers can extend or adjust how recipe filtering works through hooks, filters and REST API support.
Questions about FacetWP - Recipes integration
Which recipe plugins does this work with?
The add-on is built to work with WP Recipe Maker and Tasty Recipes. It reads the recipe data those plugins store, such as times, servings, cuisines and diets, and makes it available as data sources for FacetWP facets.
Do I still need FacetWP itself?
Yes. This is an add-on for FacetWP, so it extends that plugin's filtering system with recipe-specific data sources. You build and manage the facets through FacetWP in the WordPress admin.
Can visitors filter by dietary needs like vegan or gluten free?
The add-on includes diets as a data source, so you can create a facet from the diet values set in your recipe cards. Visitors can then pick a diet and see only recipes tagged with it.
Will the filters work on pages built with Elementor?
FacetWP filters can be used within page builders including Elementor, Beaver Builder and Bricks. That lets you design recipe listing pages in your builder and add the recipe facets to them.
Is FacetWP - Recipes integration free?
The code of FacetWP - Recipes integration is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of FacetWP - Recipes integration is this?
Version 0.4.2, released Oct 22, 2021. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update FacetWP - Recipes integration?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of FacetWP - Recipes integration automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
