What it does
Default WordPress search tends to return results in date order, and it gives visitors few ways to narrow a long list. This integration hands the keyword part of a search to Relevanssi, which uses its own custom search index to rank results by relevancy. FacetWP then applies its facets to that ranked set, so a visitor can type a query and refine the matches by category, tag, custom field, date range and other criteria without leaving the results page.
The add-on works with both the free Relevanssi plugin and Relevanssi Premium. Relevanssi Light is not supported. It handles custom post types and content structures built with Advanced Custom Fields, which suits sites with more than simple posts and pages. Typical fits include online stores, recipe blogs, real estate listings and other content-rich sites where people need to search and filter at the same time. Developers get hooks, filters and REST API support for customizing how the two plugins work together.

Do I need both FacetWP and Relevanssi for this to work?
Yes. This is an add-on that connects the two, so it relies on FacetWP for the facets and on Relevanssi for the search index and relevancy ranking. It works with either the free Relevanssi plugin or Relevanssi Premium.
Does it work with Relevanssi Light?
No. The integration supports the free Relevanssi plugin and Relevanssi Premium, but Relevanssi Light is excluded. If you currently use Light, you would need to switch to one of the supported versions.
