What it does
The core GeoDirectory plugin handles listings for one city, town or village. That works for a local directory, but it gets limiting once you want to cover several areas. This add-on removes that limit by letting you organize listings across multiple levels of location, from countries down to neighborhoods. Locations are added automatically as users submit listings, using geolocation data from Google API or Open Street Maps, so you do not have to build and prefill a location database by hand before launch.
On the front end, visitors get an AJAX location switcher that suggests nearby cities and remembers recent searches, plus a near me search that uses mobile GPS and HTML5 geolocation with a map pin fallback. Each location can have its own description, meta information and featured image, and location URLs are readable and shareable. You can also restrict listings to chosen countries, regions or cities, and place switchers, lists and near me buttons with widgets, shortcodes or page builder blocks.
Best for
- GeoDirectory sites expanding beyond a single city
- Regional or national business directories
- Agencies building multi-city listing websites
Features
Create and manage countries, regions, cities and neighborhoods so one directory can cover many places instead of a single city or town.
Locations are added as users submit listings, pulling data from Google API or Open Street Maps rather than requiring a prefilled location database.
A location selector suggests the nearest cities and stores recent searches, which helps visitors move between areas of your directory quickly.
Give each location its own meta information, description and featured image so area pages carry content specific to that place.
When Yoast SEO is active, location-based sitemaps are generated automatically so your location pages are included alongside the rest of your site.
Restrict listings to particular countries, regions or cities to keep directory content focused on the areas you want to serve.
Uses mobile GPS and HTML5 geolocation to find nearby listings, with a map pin fallback that lets visitors set their location manually.
Place location switchers, location lists, near me buttons and descriptions anywhere on your site using widgets, shortcodes or page builder blocks.

Questions about GeoDirectory Location Manager
Do I need GeoDirectory to use this plugin?
Yes. It is an add-on for the GeoDirectory plugin and extends it. GeoDirectory on its own supports listings for one city, town or village, and this add-on adds support for multiple countries, regions, cities and neighborhoods.
Do I have to enter all my locations before launching?
No. Locations are populated as users submit listings, using geolocation data from Google API or Open Street Maps. You can still manage locations yourself, but you do not need to prefill a database of places first.
Can visitors find listings close to where they are?
Yes. The near me search uses mobile GPS and HTML5 geolocation to show nearby results. If a visitor's position cannot be detected, a map pin lets them choose their location manually.
Can I limit my directory to certain areas?
Yes. You can restrict listings to specific countries, regions or cities, which is useful when your directory only serves a defined territory and you want submissions to stay within it.
Is GeoDirectory Location Manager free?
The code of GeoDirectory Location Manager is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of GeoDirectory Location Manager is this?
Version 2.3.40, released Oct 8, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update GeoDirectory Location Manager?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of GeoDirectory Location Manager automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
What does GeoDirectory Location Manager need?
GeoDirectory Location Manager needs GeoDirectory installed and active.
