Global DNS
Global DNS is a WordPress plugin that checks DNS records across multiple servers around the world. It shows which servers resolve a domain and what records they return, so you can tell when a DNS change has spread globally instead of guessing.

What’s new in Global DNS 3.3.0
- NewDKIM record checker: shortcodes global_dns_dkim_input and global_dns_dkim; REST POST /global-dns/v1/dkim/{selector}/{domain}; raw TXT plus parsed tags.
- NewPropagation toolbar: export CSV/JSON and Copy share link (outline-style actions; share uses admin primary color); time-limited snapshots (POST /global-dns/v1/propagation/share); read-only GET .../propagation/share/{uuid}; shortcode global_dns_propagation_share_view with ?global_dns_share={uuid}.
- NewDatabase table for snapshots, daily cron prune, uninstall cleanup.
- NewAdmin: Verify TLS for DNS probe URLs, HTTP connect timeout, Propagation share TTL (days), Propagation share button (show or hide “Copy share link” on the server list), DKIM checker shortcut (toolbar link when DKIM form exists on page).
- NewShared Global_Dns_Dns_Input_Validator, Global_Dns_Http_Probe, Global_Dns_Rate_Limiter; rate limits (transient buckets) for DNS propagation fetch, propagation share create, and global_dns_throttle_contact() for third-party contact forms.
- ImprovedRemote DNS probe calls use hardened HTTP client (timeouts, connect timeout, optional TLS verify).
- ImprovedIP lookup (on-site tool) uses the same HTTP client with TLS verification always on; HTTPS ip-api endpoint.
- ImprovedDig execution prefers proc_open with existing escapeshellarg command line; falls back to shell_exec.
What it does
After you change a DNS record, it can take time for servers in different regions to pick up the new value. During that window some visitors may reach the old setup while others see the new one. This plugin lets you query many DNS servers at once and compare the answers, so you can see where a change has landed and where the old record is still being served.
You add the DNS servers you want to check, with no limit on how many, and run lookups for 10 record types including A, MX, NS, CNAME and TXT. Results show propagation status per server. Beyond propagation, there is a DKIM checker that returns the raw TXT record plus parsed tags, a WHOIS lookup, and shortcodes for placing tools on your pages. It suits admins, hosting providers and anyone managing domains.
Best for
- Site owners waiting for DNS changes to take effect
- Hosting companies offering DNS tools to customers
- Agencies migrating client domains and email
Features
Look up 10 record types, including A, MX, NS, CNAME and TXT, to troubleshoot mail routing, name servers, aliases and verification records.
Add as many DNS servers as you like from different regions, so your propagation checks reflect the locations that matter to you.
See how a DNS change has spread across your chosen servers, with the records each one returns listed side by side.
Export propagation results as CSV or JSON, or create a time-limited, read-only share link to send a snapshot to a client or colleague.
Check a DKIM record by selector and domain, viewing the raw TXT value along with its parsed tags. Shortcodes let you add the checker to a page.
Pull WHOIS details for a domain from within your site. This feature needs PHP fsockopen and outbound access on TCP port 43.
Set HTTP timeouts, TLS verification for probe URLs and share link lifetime, while built-in rate limits throttle lookups and share creation.
Switch on dark mode from the admin dashboard, and use the tools on desktop, tablet or mobile screens.

Questions about Global DNS
Which DNS record types can I check?
You can check 10 record types, including A, MX, NS, CNAME and TXT. There is also a dedicated DKIM checker that takes a selector and domain and shows the raw TXT record together with its parsed tags.
Can my visitors use the DNS tools on the front end?
Yes. The plugin provides shortcodes for placing tools on your pages, such as the DKIM input form and a view for shared propagation snapshots. That makes it practical for hosting or IT service sites that want to offer lookups to their own visitors.
Can I send propagation results to someone else?
You can export results as CSV or JSON, or copy a share link to a read-only snapshot. Share links expire after a number of days you set in the admin, and old snapshots are pruned automatically each day.
Does the WHOIS lookup work on any server?
WHOIS lookups need the PHP fsockopen function and outbound access on TCP port 43. If your hosting blocks either one, the WHOIS feature will not work, though the DNS checks themselves are separate.
Is Global DNS free?
The code of Global DNS is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Global DNS is this?
Version 3.3.0, released May 11, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Global DNS?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Global DNS automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
