What it does
The default WordPress media library shows every file in one long grid, which gets hard to work with as a site grows. HappyFiles Pro adds a sidebar where you create folders and nest them as deep as you like, much like folders on your computer. You drag files into place, upload straight into a chosen folder, and assign a single file to more than one folder when it belongs in several places. Right-clicking a file shows every folder it sits in.
Folders are stored as custom taxonomy terms, so your original file paths stay untouched and WordPress core and other plugins keep working as before. The same folder tools reach posts, pages, custom post types, WooCommerce products, coupons, orders and plugins. You can also build galleries from a folder using a shortcode, a Gutenberg block or a Bricks element, with a built-in lightbox. It works on multisite networks and supports right-to-left languages.
Best for
- Sites with large, growing media libraries
- WooCommerce stores managing many products and orders
- Agencies running multisite networks or multiple client sites
Features
Create as many folders as you need and nest subfolders without a depth limit, arranging everything through a drag and drop sidebar in the media library.
Organize posts, pages, custom post types, WooCommerce products, coupons, orders and installed plugins with the same folder system used for media.
Turn a folder into a customizable gallery with a shortcode, Gutenberg block or Bricks element, and display images in the built-in lightbox.
Upload SVG files to the media library, where they are sanitized automatically and can be previewed like other images.
Bring existing folder structures over from plugins such as FileBird, Enhanced Media Library and Wicked Folders in one click.
Limit who can create and edit folders to specific user roles, which helps prevent accidental or unwanted changes to your structure.
Folders use custom taxonomy terms instead of moving files, so your media URLs and compatibility with other plugins are unaffected.
Resize the folder sidebar or hide it entirely, and your layout preference is saved automatically for next time.

Questions about HappyFiles Pro
Will organizing files into folders break my image links?
No. HappyFiles Pro uses custom taxonomy terms to group files, so the original file paths and URLs stay exactly as they were. Existing links, embeds and other plugins that reference your media keep working normally.
Can I move my folders over from another media folder plugin?
Yes. The plugin can import existing folders from other plugins, including FileBird, Enhanced Media Library and Wicked Folders, in one click, so you can keep the structure you already built.
Does it work with my page builder?
It is compatible with Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, Brizy, Oxygen and Visual Composer. Folder galleries can be added with a shortcode, a Gutenberg block or a Bricks element.
Can I stop other users from changing my folder structure?
Yes. You can restrict folder creation and editing to specific user roles. This is useful on sites with several editors or clients who should be able to use folders without rearranging them.
Is HappyFiles Pro free?
The code of HappyFiles Pro is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of HappyFiles Pro is this?
Version 1.9.1, released Mar 26, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update HappyFiles Pro?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of HappyFiles Pro automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
