What’s new in Hero - Shoutcast and Icecast Radio Player With History - Addon For Visual Composer 3.5

Version 3.5 · Feb 18, 2024 Latest

What it does

Running an online radio station or DJ show usually means sending listeners to an external player or a separate page. This addon puts the player right inside your WordPress layout. It works with both Shoutcast and Icecast streams, so most internet radio setups are covered. MP3 streams play across browsers, and AAC streams play on browsers that support them. Once you add the stream address, the player retrieves the metadata and artwork for you.

While a stream plays, the player shows the current song title along with a photo of the artist, so listeners always know what is on air. The layout adapts to desktops, tablets and phones, and it works on iOS and Android devices. You can pick a black or white skin and adjust its parameters to fit your theme. If your site uses a fixed-width design, you can switch off the responsive behavior.

Best for

Online radio stations using Shoutcast or Icecast
DJs who stream live shows from their own site
Music blogs built with WPBakery Page Builder

Features

Shoutcast and Icecast support

Play live broadcasts from either Shoutcast or Icecast servers, the two common streaming setups used by internet radio stations.

Song and artist display

The player automatically shows the title of the song currently playing and a photo of the artist, pulled from the stream metadata.

MP3 and AAC playback

MP3 streams play in all browsers, and AAC streams are supported on browsers that can handle that format.

Black and white skins

Choose between a black skin and a white skin, then adjust the player parameters so it matches the look of your site.

Responsive layout

The player resizes to fit desktops, tablets and smartphones, and it works on both iOS and Android devices.

Optional responsive disable

Turn off the responsive behavior when you need to place the player inside a non-responsive layout with fixed dimensions.

Setup from a stream URL

Add your radio stream address and the addon handles fetching the metadata and artwork so the player is ready to use.

Questions about Hero - Shoutcast and Icecast Radio Player With History - Addon For Visual Composer

Which streaming servers does this player work with?

It supports both Shoutcast and Icecast streams. For audio formats, MP3 streams play in all browsers, while AAC streams play only on browsers that support AAC, so MP3 is the safer choice if you want every visitor to hear the broadcast.

Will it show what song is playing?

Yes. The player reads the stream metadata and automatically displays the current song title along with a photo of the artist. You only need to supply the stream URL, and the addon retrieves the metadata and artwork on its own.

Does the player work on phones?

It does. The design is responsive, so it adapts to smartphones, tablets and desktops, and it works on iOS and Android devices. If your layout is not responsive, you can disable the responsive behavior so the player keeps fixed dimensions.

Can I change how the player looks?

You can choose between a black skin and a white skin and adjust the player parameters to suit your theme. Because it is a WPBakery Page Builder addon, you place it within your page layouts alongside your other content.
