What it does
Most WordPress sites link out to other websites, and handling each of those links by hand gets tedious. You might want every outbound link to carry a nofollow attribute, or you might want visitors to stay on your page while an external site opens in a new tab. Editing links one by one across many posts takes time and is easy to get inconsistent. This plugin moves that work into a set of rules you configure from its settings screen, with no coding needed.
Rules can be based on link destinations, specific domains, individual URLs or link types, so you can treat a trusted partner domain differently from everything else. Internal links are excluded automatically, which keeps your own site structure untouched. It suits bloggers who link out often, marketers who care about how link attributes are applied, and developers who manage client sites and want consistent link behavior without editing content by hand.
Best for
- Bloggers who link to many outside sources
- Marketers managing nofollow rules on outbound links
- Developers maintaining consistent link behavior on client sites
Features
Create custom rules that decide how external links behave across your site, so you configure link handling in one place instead of editing each post.
Apply the nofollow attribute to external links automatically, giving you control over how link equity passes from your pages to other websites.
Set external links to open in a new tab or window, so visitors keep your page open while they view the outside site.
Assign specific behavior to individual domains or URLs, which lets you handle certain sites differently from the general rules you set for other external links.
Internal links are excluded automatically, so your rules only touch outbound links and your own site's linking stays exactly as you wrote it.
Configure every rule through the plugin's settings screen, with no need to write code or edit theme files to change how links work.
Build rules around the type of link as well as its destination, giving you finer control over which external links get which treatment.

Questions about Junction
Will Junction change the internal links on my site?
No. The plugin excludes internal links automatically, so only links pointing to other websites are affected by the rules you create. Your own navigation and links between your posts and pages stay as they are.
Can I treat some external domains differently from others?
Yes. You can target individual domains or specific URLs and give them their own behavior. For example, you could leave links to a partner site followed while adding nofollow to other external links.
Do I need coding skills to set up link rules?
No coding is required. Rules are configured from the plugin's settings, where you choose conditions such as destination, domain or link type and then pick the behavior, like adding nofollow or opening in a new tab.
Is Junction free?
The code of Junction is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Junction is this?
Version 2.0.1, released Dec 29, 2023. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Junction?
