What’s new in Master-Detail Tables 2.0.5

Version 2.0.5 · Sep 8, 2026 Latest
  • NewCompatibility with wpDataTables 8.0.
  • ImprovedMaster-Detail columns and the “More Details” button work correctly with the latest wpDataTables release.

What it does

Big tables get crowded fast. When a dataset has many columns, you either squeeze them all onto the page or leave useful information out. This add-on handles that problem by letting you keep only the main columns visible while the rest of the data stays attached to each row. Visitors click a row to open its details, which appear beneath the selected row in either a tabular or non-tabular layout. Nothing is lost, and the main table stays easy to scan.

The plugin works inside wpDataTables, so you set it up within the table workflow you already use. It suits sites that publish financial reports, product catalogs, schedules or other detailed records. Tables can draw from sources such as MySQL queries, Google Sheets, Excel, CSV and JSON, and they can be placed with shortcodes or through page builders including Elementor, WPBakery, Divi, Gutenberg and Avada. Conditional formatting, filtering and role-based editing are also available for more focused views.

Best for

  • Sites publishing large financial or business reports
  • Product catalogs with many specifications per item
  • Agencies building data-heavy WordPress sites for clients

Features

Row details on click

Visitors click a row to reveal its detailed data, giving access to every field without adding clutter to the main table view.

Tabular or non-tabular details

Choose whether the extra information appears beneath the row in a tabular format or a non-tabular layout, depending on what reads best for your data.

Hide columns without losing data

Less important columns can be hidden from the main view while their values remain available in the expandable detail section for each row.

Works within wpDataTables

The add-on plugs into wpDataTables, so you configure master-detail behavior as part of your existing table setup on your WordPress site.

Many data sources

Build tables from MySQL queries, Google Sheets, Excel, CSV, JSON and more, with automatic or manual refreshing for file and sheet sources.

Page builder and shortcode placement

Place tables with shortcodes or through page builders such as Elementor, WPBakery, Divi, Gutenberg and Avada to fit them into your site design.

Filtering and conditional formatting

Use dynamic filtering and conditional formatting to give visitors focused views of the data that matters to them.

Role-based editing

Set up user editing access by role so people can view or change only their own data when that fits your use case.

Questions about Master-Detail Tables

Do I need wpDataTables to use this?

Yes. Master-Detail Tables is an add-on for wpDataTables and works within its tables. You create and manage tables in wpDataTables, then use this add-on to move less important columns into an expandable detail view for each row.

How do visitors see the hidden details?

A visitor clicks a row, and the details for that row appear beneath it. You can choose to display them in a tabular format or a non-tabular layout, so the extra fields stay readable without widening the main table.

Which data sources can my tables use?

Tables can be built from MySQL queries, Google Sheets, Excel, CSV, JSON and other sources. Sources like CSV, Excel and Google Sheets can be refreshed automatically or manually so the table reflects your current data.

Will the tables work on phones and in my page builder?

The tables are responsive and adapt to different screen sizes. You can place them using shortcodes or through page builders including Elementor, WPBakery, Divi, Gutenberg and Avada.

Is Master-Detail Tables free?

The code of Master-Detail Tables is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.

Which version of Master-Detail Tables is this?

Version 2.0.5, released Sep 8, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.

How do I update Master-Detail Tables?

Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Master-Detail Tables automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
