What it does

If you publish training videos, marketing content or gated lessons, it helps to know who actually watched them and how far they got. This addon records video engagement such as plays, watch time and completion status, then passes that activity to your CRM through WP Fusion. Instead of copying viewer data by hand, you can let each interaction update the contact record and use it to segment your audience.

Setup happens in the WordPress dashboard, where you define the conditions and tags that matter to you. A contact can be tagged when they finish a video or stop partway, and those tags can start follow-up emails or other automations in your CRM. You can also require users to log in before viewing media. It works with YouTube players, including ones embedded through iframe HTML, with Gutenberg and with Presto Player, and it lists WooCommerce as a requirement.

Best for

  • Course creators tracking lesson video completion
  • Marketers nurturing leads based on video viewing
  • Sites offering gated video content to logged-in users

Questions about Media Tools Addon

Do I need WP Fusion to use this addon?

Yes. Media Tools Addon is an extension for WP Fusion, which handles the connection between WordPress and your CRM. The addon adds media tracking, gating and automation on top of that connection. It also lists WooCommerce as a required plugin.

Which video players can it track?

It works with YouTube players, including YouTube videos embedded with iframe HTML, where it adds the enablejsapi=1 parameter automatically so tracking works. It also supports Presto Player and videos placed with the Gutenberg editor. Beyond video, it can manage and track additional media formats.

Can I tag users differently for partial and full views?

Yes. You can set up triggers based on how much of a video a user watched, such as finishing it or stopping partway. Each condition can apply its own tags or CRM actions, which then start follow-up emails or other automations.

Can I hide videos from visitors who are not logged in?

Yes. The addon can gate videos and other media behind user authentication, so only logged-in users can view them. This is useful for exclusive content meant for particular audience segments, such as trainees or paying customers.

Is Media Tools Addon free?

The code of Media Tools Addon is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.

Which version of Media Tools Addon is this?

Version 1.5.1, released Dec 27, 2024. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.

How do I update Media Tools Addon?

Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Media Tools Addon automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.

What does Media Tools Addon need?

Media Tools Addon needs WooCommerce installed and active.
