What it does
Membership sites often need a way to hand out files such as eBooks, PDFs, software or media without letting them spread to people who never signed up. Doing that with outside file hosts or manual workarounds gets messy fast. This add-on keeps the files on your own site and places them behind the same membership rules you already use in MemberPress, so access follows each member's plan.
You manage everything from the WordPress dashboard: upload files, sort them, and replace them when you have a newer copy. Each download can be assigned to specific membership levels or groups, and members can view and download what they are entitled to from your site. It also works alongside other MemberPress add-ons, including MemberPress Courses, Easy Affiliate, MemberPress Gifting and Order Bumps, which helps if you bundle files into plans or special offers.
Best for
- MemberPress sites offering exclusive files to paying members
- Coaches and educators sharing workbooks, PDFs or videos
- Creators bundling digital downloads into membership plans
Features
Files behind membership rules
Downloadable files are protected by your MemberPress membership rules, so only members with the right access can open them and casual sharing of links is discouraged.
Assign by level or group
Attach each download to specific membership levels or groups, letting you decide exactly which members get which eBooks, PDFs, videos or other files.
Dashboard file management
Upload, organize and update your downloadable content directly inside the WordPress dashboard, without setting up a separate file hosting service.
Member access on your site
Members can view and download their available files right on your site, keeping their content in the same place as the rest of their membership.
Works with MemberPress add-ons
Runs alongside other MemberPress add-ons such as MemberPress Courses and Easy Affiliate, so downloads fit into the membership setup you already have.
Pairs with Gifting and Order Bumps
Combine downloads with MemberPress Gifting and Order Bumps to include files in premium plans, bundles or limited-time offers.
Many file types
Offer eBooks, PDFs, software, videos and other media files as protected downloads for your members.

Questions about MemberPress Downloads
Do I need MemberPress to use this?
Yes. It is an add-on for MemberPress and extends an existing MemberPress membership site. It relies on MemberPress membership rules to decide which members can access each file.
Can I limit a file to certain membership levels?
Yes. You can assign downloads to specific membership levels or groups, so a file only appears for and can only be downloaded by members who hold the matching access.
What kinds of files can I offer?
The add-on is meant for digital content such as eBooks, PDFs, software, videos and other media files. You upload and organize them from your WordPress dashboard.
Does it work with MemberPress Courses?
Yes. It works with MemberPress Courses and other add-ons including Easy Affiliate, MemberPress Gifting and Order Bumps, so you can combine downloads with courses, gifts or checkout offers.
Is MemberPress Downloads free?
The code of MemberPress Downloads is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of MemberPress Downloads is this?
Version 1.3.1, released Apr 7, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update MemberPress Downloads?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of MemberPress Downloads automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
