What it does
If you sell ebooks, software, music or other files with Easy Digital Downloads, your buyers are the people most likely to care about your next release. The trouble is that store data and mailing lists often live in separate places. This integration brings them together, so your digital download customers can flow into your Newsletter subscriber lists and you can reach them with targeted campaigns about products they are likely to want.
It works alongside the Newsletter plugin, which handles the email side. Newsletter offers a drag and drop composer with over 25 content blocks, subscription forms you can place anywhere, automatic sorting of subscribers into lists, welcome emails, scheduled newsletters and autoresponder series. Campaign reports cover open rates, click rates and subscriber behavior. Sending can run through external services such as Amazon SES, Mailgun, SendGrid or other SMTP providers, with bounce handling built in.
Best for
- Easy Digital Downloads stores selling ebooks, software or files
- Creators announcing new digital products to past buyers
- Sites already using the Newsletter plugin for email

Campaign reports
Review open rates, click rates and subscriber behavior for each campaign so you can see how customers respond to your product announcements.

Questions about Newsletter EDD
What does this add to my Easy Digital Downloads store?
It links your store with the Newsletter plugin so your digital product customers can become subscribers. You can then send them newsletters about new offerings, organize them into lists and track how each campaign performs, all from your WordPress dashboard.
Do I need the Newsletter plugin as well?
Yes. This is an integration for The Newsletter Team's Newsletter plugin, which provides the composer, subscription forms, list management, automation and reporting. The integration connects those tools with your Easy Digital Downloads customer data.
Can I send emails through a service like Amazon SES or Mailgun?
Newsletter supports external delivery services including Amazon SES, Mailgun, SendGrid and other SMTP providers, so you are not limited by your web server's mail setup. It also handles bounced emails automatically to help keep your subscriber lists healthy.
Is Newsletter EDD free?
The code of Newsletter EDD is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of Newsletter EDD is this?
Version 1.1.2, released Aug 30, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update Newsletter EDD?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of Newsletter EDD automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
