Ocean Side Panel

by OceanWP oceanwp.org v2.2.5 Unlimited sites

Ocean Side Panel is a WordPress plugin by OceanWP that adds a responsive side panel to sites running the OceanWP theme. The panel slides in from the left or right and holds widgets or saved templates, so extra content stays one click away without crowding your main pages.

What’s new in Ocean Side Panel 2.2.5

Version 2.2.5 · Sep 14, 2026 Latest
  • ImprovedCustomizer: Custom Templates: Gutenberg template processing and rendering.

What it does

Many sites have content that visitors need now and then, such as a newsletter signup form, product filters or social links, but that would clutter a page if it sat there all the time. This plugin moves that content into a panel that opens from the side of the screen. Visitors click an opening button, the panel slides in, and they can close it again when they are done. Your main layout stays clean while the extra material remains easy to reach.

Setup happens through the OceanWP theme, which the plugin requires. You fill the panel with standard WordPress widgets, or replace its content with a template built in OceanWP's My Library, including templates made with the block editor. From there you choose the side it opens from, its width, colors, overlay and close button behavior. Breakpoint controls let you hide or show the panel on different screen sizes, and a shortcode lets you place the opening button anywhere on your site.

Best for

  • Site owners already building with the OceanWP theme
  • Online stores wanting product filters in a slide-out panel
  • Blogs that want signup forms or social links tucked aside

Features

Widgets inside the panel

Place your usual WordPress widgets in the side panel to show menus, forms, filters or other content without adding it to the main page layout.

Custom opening button

Pick from several icon options and add your own text to the button that opens the panel, so it matches the look of your site.

Left or right position

Set the panel to slide in from either the left or the right side of the screen, depending on what suits your layout.

Adjustable width and colors

Choose a custom width for the panel and set colors for both the panel and its button to fit your site's color scheme.

Overlay and close button

Add an overlay behind the open panel to focus attention on it, and decide whether the close button shows and what text it uses.

Responsive breakpoint controls

Use breakpoint settings to hide or show the panel on certain screen sizes, with scroll handling built in for mobile visitors.

My Library templates

Replace the panel's content with a template created in OceanWP's My Library, giving you full control over the layout inside the panel.

Shortcode button placement

Add the opening button anywhere on your site with a customizable shortcode, so the panel can be triggered from content areas as well.

Questions about Ocean Side Panel

Do I need the OceanWP theme to use this plugin?

Yes. The plugin is an extension for the OceanWP theme and requires it to be active. Its settings and template features, including the My Library integration, are built around OceanWP.

What kind of content can I put in the side panel?

You can add standard WordPress widgets, such as menus, forms or social widgets, or replace the panel content entirely with a template from OceanWP's My Library. Templates made with the block editor are supported too.

Can I hide the side panel on mobile devices?

Yes. Breakpoint controls let you choose whether the panel shows or hides at certain screen sizes, so you can keep it on desktop and turn it off on smaller screens, or the other way around.

Can the panel be opened from somewhere other than the default button?

Yes. A customizable shortcode lets you place the opening button anywhere on your site, such as inside page content, in addition to customizing the default button's icon and text.

Is Ocean Side Panel free?

The code of Ocean Side Panel is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.

Which version of Ocean Side Panel is this?
