What it does
Large image files are one of the most common reasons WordPress pages feel heavy. This plugin works through your media library and shrinks those files, either in bulk for images you already have or automatically as new ones are uploaded. It can resize images to fit their display area, convert JPG and PNG files to WebP and AVIF, turn PNGs into lossy JPEGs where that makes sense, and let you keep or strip EXIF metadata. It also reaches beyond the media library to optimize non-WordPress images and whole folders.
