What it does

A default WordPress menu is fine for a handful of links, but it gets cramped once a site has many sections, product categories or content types. This plugin turns that menu into a full mega menu with column grids, tabbed submenus and embedded content such as images, post grids, maps and forms. Visitors can see more of the site at a glance, and you decide how each submenu is laid out and how it opens.

Setup happens in the familiar WordPress menu manager, so you keep the menus you already have and add layout and content options to each item. Styling is handled through the WordPress Customizer with a live preview, plus settings on individual menu items. It works with most themes, supports touch devices, and lets you set the breakpoint where the desktop layout switches to mobile. Developers get simplified CSS selectors and LESS stylesheets for custom work.

Best for

  • Content-heavy sites with many categories or sections
  • Online stores needing organized category navigation
  • Developers building custom navigation for client sites

Questions about UberMenu 3

Will this work with the menus I have already created?

Yes. The plugin uses the native WordPress menu system, so you keep working in the standard menu manager. Your existing menu items stay in place, and you add mega menu layouts, columns and content options on top of them.

Can I put things other than links in the menu?

You can. Menus can hold images, post grids, search bars, Google Maps, shortcodes, widgets, custom HTML and Contact Form 7 forms. You can also generate items automatically from posts, pages, custom post types, categories and taxonomy terms.

How does it behave on phones and tablets?

Menus are responsive and include unified touch support for iOS, Android and Windows 8, with optional close buttons on submenus. You can also choose the breakpoint at which the menu switches from its desktop layout to its mobile layout.

Do I need to know CSS to style the menu?

No. Colors, fonts, sizes and styles can be changed in the WordPress Customizer with a live preview. If you do want custom styling, simplified CSS selectors and LESS stylesheets are included.

Is UberMenu 3 free?

The code of UberMenu 3 is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.

Which version of UberMenu 3 is this?

Version 3.8.5, released Jul 25, 2024. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
