What’s new in UpdraftPlus - Backup/Restore 2.26.10.26
- SecurityThanks to Jakub Herman for reporting a second/related instance of the problem patched in 1.26.9. In this related instance, the problem could lead to execution only if the site was restored on a database server which differed in configuration from that on which the backup was taken. Nevertheless, all users should update.
What it does
Losing a site to a bad update, a hacked account or a failed host move is a real risk for any WordPress owner. This plugin covers your files and database with scheduled backups that you can run during off-peak hours. Incremental backups save only what changed since the last run, which keeps storage use and server load down. That approach suits sites on limited memory, low storage or with complex databases. Retention controls clear out old backups automatically so your storage stays organized.
Backups can go to cloud services such as Dropbox and Google Drive, to WebDAV, SFTP or FTP, or stay on your own server. When something breaks, you restore from a saved copy. The migration tool moves a site between hosts, domains, or from live to a development environment, and clone tokens let you spin up copies for testing and staging. If you run several sites, UpdraftCentral gives you one dashboard for all of them, and the plugin works with WordPress multisite networks and sites in many languages.
Best for
- Bloggers who want regular, automatic backups
- Agencies managing many client WordPress sites
- Developers moving sites between hosts or staging
