What’s new in UserPro 5.1.16
- SecuritySecurity fix: Privilege escalation (CVSS 9.8, unauthenticated). A guest registration could overwrite the new account's wp_capabilities row by posting a field name containing a Unicode homoglyph in place of an ASCII letter (e.g. U+0209 replacing 'i' in wp_capabilities). MySQL's accent-insensitive meta_key collation matched the mutated key to the real wp_capabilities row, and the previous remove_accents() denylist did not cover all characters in that equivalence class.
- ImprovedFixed in two layers: (1) functions/ajax.php now applies sanitize_key() to every POST key when building the form array, stripping all non-ASCII bytes before they reach update_user_meta(). (2) functions/user-functions.php now rejects any meta key containing non-ASCII bytes outright and uses sanitize_key() rather than remove_accents() for the capabilities/user_level denylist, as defense-in-depth for any caller that does not go through ajax.php.
What it does
Default WordPress accounts are bare: there is no real public profile, and the login and sign-up screens look nothing like the rest of your site. This plugin fills that gap with front-end profiles built from customizable templates, plus registration and login forms that match your branding. Social sign-in lets people create an account with an existing Facebook, Twitter or Google login, so they skip filling out a long form before they can take part.
It fits sites where members matter, such as community forums, membership sites and business sites with customer accounts. You can add custom profile fields to collect the details your community needs, and admins can control roles, permissions and who sees what. Email verification and password recovery are built in. Profiles and forms are responsive across screen sizes, and the plugin is translation ready for sites that serve more than one language.
Best for
- Community forums that need member profiles
- Membership sites wanting social sign-in
- Business sites managing customer accounts and roles
Features
Users can register and sign in with their Facebook, Twitter, Google or other social accounts instead of creating a separate username and password.
Profile templates can be adjusted so member pages follow your site's look and branding rather than a generic default layout.
Simple registration and login forms, combined with social sign-in, give visitors a clear path to creating and accessing an account.
Admins can manage user roles, permissions and profile visibility from a dashboard, keeping control over who can do and see what.
Built-in email confirmation checks new accounts, and a password recovery process lets users reset forgotten passwords on their own.
Add your own profile fields to gather the specific information your community or membership site needs from each user.
Both users and administrators can set profile visibility and decide how much profile data is shared with others on the site.
Profiles and login forms adapt to different devices and screen sizes, and the plugin supports translation into multiple languages.

Questions about UserPro
Which social networks can people use to log in?
Users can sign in with Facebook, Twitter and Google, and the plugin also supports other social accounts. This lets visitors create an account using a login they already have instead of filling out a full registration form.
Can I collect extra information when users sign up?
Yes. You can add custom profile fields to capture details specific to your community, beyond the standard WordPress user data. Those fields appear as part of each user's profile, which you can style with the customizable templates.
Can members hide their profiles from other people?
The plugin includes privacy controls for both users and administrators. Profile visibility and data sharing can be adjusted, and admins can also manage visibility alongside user roles and permissions from the dashboard.
Will it work on a site in a language other than English?
It is multilingual and translation ready, so the profile pages, forms and messages can be translated for audiences in other languages. Profiles and forms are also responsive, so they adapt to phones, tablets and desktops.
Is UserPro free?
The code of UserPro is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of UserPro is this?
Version 5.1.16, released Oct 6, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update UserPro?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of UserPro automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
