What it does
Running an online course usually means stitching together a course tool, a payment system and a way to lock content behind enrollment. This plugin puts those pieces in one place. You arrange modules and units in a drag and drop course builder, then decide how students get in: one-time payments, subscriptions, bundles or installment plans through PayPal and Stripe. Access is restricted by enrollment, so only registered students reach the material they paid for.
Inside a course, you can schedule lessons to release on calendar dates or at intervals after enrollment, and gate progress with quizzes that require a passing grade. Results land in a built-in grade book. Students can take notes as they learn, earn points and badges, and receive PDF certificates on completion. If you already sell through WooCommerce, courses can sit alongside your other products, and multiple instructors can manage their own courses without admin access.
Best for
- Teachers, coaches and consultants selling courses from WordPress
- WooCommerce stores adding courses to their product catalog
- Training teams with several instructors sharing one site

Questions about WP Courseware
Can I sell courses without adding a separate payment plugin?
Yes. The plugin handles one-time payments, subscriptions, bundles and installment plans through PayPal and Stripe on its own. If you prefer WooCommerce, you can sell courses there instead, including through WooCommerce Subscriptions, Memberships and Teams.
Can I host my course videos on YouTube or Vimeo?
Yes. It works with video hosting platforms including YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia and Amazon S3, so you can keep videos on the service you already use and place them inside your course units.
Can students be stopped from skipping ahead?
Yes, in two ways. Blocking quizzes require a passing grade before a student can continue, and content dripping releases material on calendar dates or at intervals after enrollment, so later lessons stay locked until their scheduled time.
Do instructors need admin access to run their courses?
No. You can assign multiple instructors who create and manage their own courses and students without admin rights, which suits teams where several people teach on the same site.
Is WP Courseware free?
The code of WP Courseware is licensed under the GPL, so anyone may use, change and share it. GPL Feast is a paid service: a plan or a single purchase gives you the download and automatic updates. The developer's own support, licence key and online services are not included.
Which version of WP Courseware is this?
Version 4.18.4, released Oct 12, 2026. New versions appear here when the developer publishes them, and members get them as automatic updates.
How do I update WP Courseware?
Install the free GPL Feast Updater on your site and connect it with your API key. It installs new versions of WP Courseware automatically and keeps a backup, so you can roll back.
